Can a Brow Lift Fix Asymmetrical Eyes or Eyebrows?

Everyone is born with some sort of facial asymmetry. Despite what Hollywood shows, not everyone is born with perfect features. However, while most asymmetry is minimal and unnoticeable, others may experience a very visible difference, especially around the eyes. Asymmetry can also develop with age, giving you uneven eyes or eyebrows.

The good news is, in most cases, a brow lift is enough to fix eyebrow asymmetry. In cases where the eyes are uneven, an eyelift and brow lift for asymmetry often produces better results. 

When Your Eyebrows Are Asymmetrical

When it comes to eyebrow asymmetry, there are a variety of different causes. If this is something you have had for a long time, chances are you may have asymmetry within your facial bone structure.  If you have noticed a change in your eyebrows as you age, chances are you have lost muscle tone or have sagging skin in your eye area contributing to the change in eyebrow position. 

In both of these cases, a brow lift can focus on the lower eyebrow, lifting it up to match the other side. In addition to addressing asymmetry, a brow lift will also brighten up your eyes and reduce forehead wrinkles and the vertical lines between your eyebrows, giving you a much more youthful facial appearance. 

Combining a Brow and Eyelid Lift May Give Better Results

In some cases, it isn’t really your eyebrows causing the asymmetry, but rather your eyes themselves. As you age, the tissue in your upper eyelid can stretch and excess fat can appear, causing ptosis. This contributes to a drooping upper eyelid, often covering part of the pupil. When this occurs, the brain sends a message to the facial muscles to lift the eyebrow on the affected side, often creating an asymmetrical appearance. When this occurs, a combination of a brow lift and eyelid surgery can help open up the eyes and fix your asymmetrical appearance.
